Who we are

The Society of Notaries Public of BC is the regulatory body for members of the Society. Our mandate is to regulate the profession in the public interest by setting standards and investigating complaints. We seek to ensure that the people of BC are served by legal practitioners who meet high standards of learning, competence, and professional conduct.

In Canada, British Columbia is the only common law Province that independently regulates Notaries as legal service providers in certain areas of non-contentious law. Quebec has a similar arrangement but under their civil law system.
